Hopkins runners dominated Sunday’s five-mile Raspberry Run.

John Klecker finished first overall with a time of 24:47—a pace of 4:58 minutes per mile.

Klecker, who just finished his freshman year at Augustana College, is an accomplished runner. At Hopkins High School, he finished ninth overall at the state cross country championship. In his freshman year at Augustana College, he placed 56th at the NSIC Championships. More recently, he won the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth.

His brother, Joe Klecker, was right behind him with a second-place time of 25:02—or 5:01 minutes per mile. He finished third in this year’s state cross country championships.

Maria Hauger, a 2013 Shakopee grad and the 2012 state cross country champion, won the women’s race with a time of 27:18—a pace of 5:28 minutes per mile. Her time was more than two minutes faster than the runner-up, Minneapolis resident Terri Emond.

The Raspberry Run is Minnesota’s second oldest running race. The race is in its 47th year.
