Linda Hart Gardener has been charged with second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
A 60-year-old woman attacked a man with a knife following an argument over cocaine, according to charging documents released Friday. Police arrived at the Hiawatha Court apartments at 9:38 p.m. Monday to find an unnamed man in the parking lot covered in blood and bleeding from his face, Detective Renee Meuwissen wrote in the criminal complaint. Officers noted a large cut on his left cheek and additional cuts on his arms. The man said he’d been hanging out with his friend, Linda Hart Gardener, and was drinking beer. Police say Jerald Lynn Alexander had a bag of crack cocaine in his sock.
A St. Paul man has been charged with felony drug possession after Hopkins police say they found a large quantity of crack cocaine in his sock when he was stopped for traffic violations. Jerald Lynn Alexander, 24, is charged with second-degree drug possession, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. A Hopkins police officer on patrol near Blake Road North and Lake Street Northeast on Oct. 12 saw a vehicle make a sudden lane change without signaling, according to the criminal complaint, signed by Officer Kevin Frederick of the Southwest Hennepin Drug Task Force. Jimmie Lee Bownes has been charged with third-degree drug possession and fifth-degree drug possession.
An unspecified traffic violation led to a drug bust and two felony charges against a Hopkins man, according to court documents filed Friday. An officer stopped 40-year-old Jimmie Lee Bownes at 8:54 p.m. Dec. 14 at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Mainstreet, Officer Kevin Frederick wrote in the charging documents. While talking with Bownes, the officer smelled marijuana. Bownes admitted smoking marijuana before driving and gave officers permission to search him, saying he didn’t have any more. Officers found a container with 30 Lorazepam pills on Bownes. He said he had a prescription for the anti-anxiety medicine, but subsequent investigation showed that he didn’t have a prescription.
