New Shuttle Bus: Minnetonka Offers Service Between Community Center and Williston

While parking to date has been challenging but manageable, the expectation is that parking on Saturdays and Mondays will be significantly more difficult due to the start of several new programs.

Having trouble finding a parking spot at Williston Fitness Center in Minnetonka? In order to alleviate parking congestion at the Williston Center, a free shuttle service is provided between the Minnetonka Community Center and Williston on Saturdays (8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.) and Mondays (4:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) starting Saturday, January 12, and running through April. Shuttles arrives at each location approximately every 10 minutes. While parking to date has been challenging but manageable, the expectation is that parking on Saturdays and Mondays will be significantly more difficult due to the start of several Williston youth programs including swimming, ball skills and tennis. Hopkins Council Unsure About Subsidizing Williston Center Memberships

Council members said it would cost too much to allow Hopkins residents to pay resident rates at the Minnetonka fitness center.

The Hopkins City Council isn’t wild about subsidizing visits to Minnetonka’s Williston Fitness Center in order for Hopkins residents to pay the same rates as Minnetonka residents do. The two communities save money by sharing the cost of recreation programs—and allowing people from both communities to pay resident rates in those programs. But the partnership does not apply to the cities’ individual facilities. At the Williston center, for example, Hopkins households must pay $72 per month compared to the $58 per month that Minnetonka residents pay.
