Former Hopkins KFC Left Out of Popeyes Deal
The Mainstreet property is now up for sale.
The former KFC in Hopkins’ downtown is no longer on track to become a Popeyes chicken restaurant. Speculation that the Hopkins KFC would become a Popeyes arose in October when the Star Tribune reported that AFC Enterprises, Popeyes' parent company, planned to buy 14 KFC properties in the Twin Cities from bankrupt franchisee Wagstaff Management. But a for-sale sign that appeared at the 1728 Mainstreet property suggested plans had changed. On Thursday, Wagstaff Management confirmed to Patch that the restaurant was not part of the AFC Enterprises deal.
