What Crimes Are Most Prevalent in Your Neighborhood?

Statistics show that violent crime is down in Hennepin County. Tell us what crimes you’re seeing in your community.

According to a recent Hennepin County Sheriff's Office press release, from 2006 and 2012, violent crime in Hennepin County has decreased 37 percent. The FBI says that murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault all make up “violent crime.” The Sheriff’s Office reports that in 2012, the county saw the lowest amount of violent crime in more than two decades. And while violent crimes may be decreasing, Twin Cities residents still see various crimes impact their neighborhoods. In Golden Valley, police recently warned residents about a string of mail thefts. Last January, Minnetonka police alerted homeowners to a rash of burglaries. Business thefts, including an incident that led to a dangerous police chase, have taken place in Eden Prairie. …

Sheriff: Violent Crime Down 37 Percent in Hennepin County

2012 had one of the lowest levels of violent crime countywide in more than two decades.

Editor's Note: The following is a Hennepin County Sheriff's Office press release. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is releasing statistics that provide an estimate of the county’s violent crime in 2012.  The statistics show that violent crime has decreased countywide by 37% from 2006 to 2012. 2012 had one of the lowest levels of violent crime countywide in more than two decades.   Violent crime is defined as: murder and manslaughter--non negligent, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The definition is from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program. Year-to-date, from 2011-2012, there was an estimated 3% increase in violent crime countywide.
