Rainy Weather Closes Outdoor Skating Rinks Friday

The rinks are expected to re-open at noon Saturday.

Rainfall and unseasonably warm temperatures have prompted the City of Hopkins to close its outdoor skating rinks on Friday, Public Works Director Steve Stadler said. Drizzle and rain is supposed to continue throughout the day, with highs expected to reach 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. However, temperatures are supposed to start dropping, with an overnight low of 17 degrees that should fall to 11 degrees by 5 p.m. Saturday. Stadler expects outdoor skating rinks to re-open at noon Saturday, although that may be delayed if the ice remains slushy. Residents can get the latest updates on rink openings by calling the Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services Weather Hotline at 952-939-8355. *** Hopkins Parks with Skating …
