(Video) Hopkins Police Punch Above Their Weight Class When Raising Money

The department raised the fourth largest amount of money for Special Olympics among 47 law enforcement agencies.

In terms of size, the Hopkins Police Department can’t hold a candle to the police forces of much larger communities in the state. But when it comes to raising money for a good cause, Hopkins is right up there with departments such as Minneapolis, Bloomington and Eden Prairie. The $5,719 that Hopkins raised for Special Olympics this year was the fourth largest amount among the 47 law enforcement agencies that participated in last month’s Polar Plunge. Even more surprising, this was Hopkins’ first year participating with Special Olympics fundraising. The city took the opportunity Tuesday night to recognize this accomplishment and to present a ceremonial check to Special Olympics.
