Editor’s Notebook: The following announcement comes from the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Roxanne Richards says, “Life is full of stories. The stories in my work document my journey to understand what I see, feel and experience…I attempt to capture all my questions, foibles and adventures in the same colorful and energetic way I feel them.” Richards finds dry pastel the perfect medium to explore her questions and record her adventures with color and energy. Being almost pure pigment, dry pastel provides the depth and range of hue she seeks. Being in stick form, pastel lets her depict energy through expressively drawn lines. Adding a little isopropyl alcohol to the pastel creates a paint to be applied with a brush. She uses both …
