Oakdale Police Arrest Missing Hopkins Check Forgery Suspect

A man who was wanted for allegedly giving a fake check to a Hopkins landlord is in jail after Oakdale police arrested him on suspicion of another check forgery scheme. Officers in the east metro community arrested 30-year-old Edward David Stahlmann at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, said Oakdale Community Affairs Officer Michelle Stark. He was transferred to the Hennepin County jail Wednesday night, where he is being held on $40,000 bond. The Oakdale officers arrested Stahlmann in connection with an incident in Maplewood, Stark said. Investigators have forwarded a case to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution of offering a forged check.
