Affordable Services at New Animal Hospital Keep Pets With Families

Mission Animal Hospital opened Monday on Shady Oak Road.

Melanie Sharpe has been a veterinarian since 2001 and has spent most of that time working with shelters. She went to Ohio State for veterinary school and then worked at the university’s shelter program upon graduation. Although Sharpe did spend a total four years in private practice, she was most recently a senior veterinarian at the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. The Deephaven resident, who has a border collie of her own named Zorro, is bringing her skills back to the world of private practice, though. On Monday, she opened Mission Animal Hospital at 4338 Shady Oak Road on the Hopkins-Minnetonka border. Sharpe isn’t starting her own practice on a whim. New local establishments offer a range of services

Nine Maternity Clothing Consignment Opened in 2008, Nine makes name-brand maternity wear available for reasonable prices. It also accepts like-new maternity wear from specific brands, such as Gap or Old Navy. Aji Contemporary Japanese Aji, on Mainstreet, began serving modern Japanese food to Hopkins diners in 2011. Its fresh take on the East-Asian cuisine means that it has something for everyone. Although sushi is the main attraction, its other dishes include dumplings and even chicken wings, all for around $10 Our Space This Christian daycare facility provides care for children both before and after school. Another Building Upgrade? You Bet!

A building at Seventh Street and 11th Avenue is just the latest Hopkins building to get a makeover.

The spurt of beautification around Hopkins continues with a makeover to a building at Seventh Street South and 11th Avenue South. DNR Real Estate bought the near-empty building in February and had it full by March, said Doug Petty, with DNR. The company has already started work on an improved exterior and plans other upgrades, such as new signage and irrigated landscaping. In the next couple years, it plans a parking lot replacement. The improvements comes at about the same time as: The Seventh Street building hasn’t been at its best in recent times. It was previously the site of a business that made plumbing fittings. But the man who owned the building died, leaving ownership to his wife. The business shrunk until it occupied just one bay…
