Hopkins is closing out 2012 with a different landscape than it began the year with. Long-vacant sites are being remade, and new businesses are on their way—or up and running. Mission Animal Hospital opened Monday on Shady Oak Road.
Melanie Sharpe has been a veterinarian since 2001 and has spent most of that time working with shelters. She went to Ohio State for veterinary school and then worked at the university’s shelter program upon graduation. Although Sharpe did spend a total four years in private practice, she was most recently a senior veterinarian at the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. The Deephaven resident, who has a border collie of her own named Zorro, is bringing her skills back to the world of private practice, though. On Monday, she opened Mission Animal Hospital at 4338 Shady Oak Road on the Hopkins-Minnetonka border. Sharpe isn’t starting her own practice on a whim.
