Hopkins Center for the Arts fills up for gallery openings

Hopkins Center for the Arts is home to the first solo exhibition for St. Paul artist Nathan Stromberg, but Stromberg was hardly alone at the Thursday's opening reception. Visitors filled the galleries to check out American Iconic, a show whose pieces explore classic Americana. Stromberg exhibited some paintings in this series while getting his master of fine arts degree, but the Hopkins exhibition marks his first focused exhibition. "It's really, really fun to have the day finally here," Stromberg said. The artist based his pieces on old Kodachrome slides.
