Hopkins is one of many communities riding an uptick in sales that’s in its eighth straight month.
For the eighth straight month, the Twin Cities' median home sales price rose as the metro area saw increased sales demand and the distressed market accounting for a smaller part of overall home sales, according to data the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors (MAAR) released Monday. In Hopkins, prices skyrocketed. The median home sales price in October was $130,000, up 35.6 percent from the same period a year ago, according to MAAR's data. The bottom line: More homes sold in less time at higher prices and for closer to asking price than last year, MAAR officials said. Waiting for the real estate market to bounce back? That moment may have already come and gone.
The Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors (MAAR) reported Thursday that April’s median home prices in Hopkins jumped 40.3 percent from the same month a year earlier. Hopkins saw closed sales remain nearly level, and new listings dropped 26 percent—from 35 in 2011 to 26 in 2012. But across the Twin Cities region, Realtors pointed to several signs that the real estate market is bouncing back. In general, Minnesota homes are selling at their fastest pace in some time and prices are continuing to climb over the same levels reported a year earlier.
