Man Leads Police on High-Speed Chase Between Golden Valley and Hopkins

The chase reportedly reached speeds of 110 mph.

A driver led Golden Valley police on a chase early Tuesday morning that culminated near Hopkins’ Mainstreet, Hopkins Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said. The chase began when Golden Valley officers tried to stop the driver at 12:46 a.m. Golden Valley crime analyst Joanne Paul said that the chase orginated near Interstate 394 and Highway 169. Four Golden Valley police officers tried to stop the man during the four-mile pursuit, according to Paul. Audio recorded by Police Clips stated that police reached speeds of 110 mph as they excelerated down southbound Highway 169. Click here to listen to the audio. Man Thought to Have Drugs Leads Hopkins Police on High-Speed Chase

Police say the man fled during a traffic stop when they smelled marijuana in his SUV and found he had a suspended license.

Hopkins Police on a drunken driving detail with Hennepin County accuse a Minneapolis man of leading them on a high-speed chase while pitching marijuana baggies out of his SUV window. Officers reported that they smelled marijuana when they stopped a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 30-year-old Lamar Javis Burgess in Minneapolis, near Dowling Avenue and Interstate-94, according to charging documents written by Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg. A check on the driver’s license showed that Burgess has a suspended driver’s license. Police said Burgess appeared very nervous and became argumentative, repeatedly stating that his license was not suspended. When the officer asked him to step out of the vehicle, Burgess shifted into drive and accelerated away, …

Hopkins Man Accused of Leading Police on Chase

Myron Lynn Williams, 36, faces a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor of fleeing an officer while not in a motor vehicle.

A Hopkins man is in jail following a chase through the east side of the city last week, Officer Erik Husevold wrote in charging documents. Myron Lynn Williams, 36, faces a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor of fleeing an officer while not in a motor vehicle. The felony carries a penalty of up to three years and one day in prison and a $5,000 fine. The misdemeanor charge could result in up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. The charges stem from an incident that began at about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 12 when Hopkins police officers saw a driver in a Ford Mustang who appeared to be smoking marijuana.
