Holiday Sip & Shop: Putting the 'Fun' in Fundraiser

More than 30 vendors will be at Pinstripes in Edina Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. to host an open house and raise awareness and money for GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center slated to open in 2013.

It's a party, yes—but for a good cause. More than 30 vendors will be at Pinstripes in Edina Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5-8 p.m. as a fundraiser and to raise awareness for GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center slated to open in St. Louis Park in 2013. It's the second year for the event, which will feature gifts, wine, coffee, hot chocolate, as well as hors d'ouvres for guests. A donation of $10 is asked for those who attend. Edina Patch, which is a partner for the event, will also be on hand giving away canvas shopping totes to those who attend. Vendors scheduled include: Anna Belago Designs; Winter Goddess/Black Onyx Creation; Best Buy Simplicity Program; Beyond Beauty Aesthetic Clinic; Blast Dry Bar; Bumblebee Personal Assistants…

International Club and Rotary Club to Host Fruit Fundraiser

The organizations will sell oranges, grapefruit and cashews, chocolate pecan turtles and whole bean coffee to benefit both groups.

  Editor’s Note: The following announcement comes from Hopkins Public Schools. The Hopkins High School International Club and the Hopkins Rotary Club are conducting their annual Fruit Sale fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit both groups. Items for sale include oranges, grapefruit and cashews, chocolate pecan turtles and whole bean coffee. Orders can be placed at 952-988-4570 or 612-275-5614. Students will make their sales by calling homes on the evenings of Oct. 15, 16, 22, and 23.  The fruit will be delivered Saturday, Nov. 17. Main Street School to Host ‘Support the Street’ May 16-18

The yard sale and concert raises money for the downtown school.

  (The following news release comes from the Main Street School of Performing Arts.)   Students and faculty from the Main Street School of Performing Arts (MSSPA) are taking it to the street (or at least the front lawn) in mid-May with their annual Yard Sale and Support the Street musical celebration. Each event is free and open to the public. The MSSPA Yard Sale, a fundraising event for Main Street School, will be held May 16 – 18 from 8:00 am – 2:30 pm each day (weather permitting). The event will feature a wide selection of household items and clothing, all donated by MSSPA friends and families. The Support the Street concert will be held on May 18, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Helping Paws’ Wag, Walk & Run Takes Place May 20

The annual fundraiser supports the organization’s mission to provide dogs to people with physical disabilities.

Dogs and their humans will hit the trails yet again at Helping Paws’ 14th Annual Wag, Walk & Run taking place May 20. The event includes a one-mile kids’ run for children 12 and younger and a six-legged run or walk that participants can do with their well-mannered canine companions. There will also be entertainment such as dog demonstrations, dog contests, face painting, vendor booths and a chance to meet Helping Paws service dogs. Helping Paws started in 1985 as a University of Minnesota pilot program. It’s continued more than a quarter century providing dogs to people with physical disabilities—such as spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy or Lou Gehrig's disease. The Wag, Walk & Run raises money for the program. …

Celebrate May Day at The Hopkins Center For the Arts

The floral- and garden-themed fundraiser supports arts programming.

The Hopkins Center for the Arts will be welcoming visitors for a special floral- and garden-themed fundraiser celebrating May Day. Experts will be on hand to offer advice about gardening and flower arrangements. A fashion show will offer a look at spring clothing, accessories and hair designs. And there will be a silent auction where attendees can bid on art, theater tickets, gift baskets, community garden plots, plants, landscaping plans and more. May Day at the HCA takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5. All proceeds go to support arts programming at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Raspberry Festival's Spaghetti Dinner Takes Place Saturday

Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Fundraising Book Fair Continues Online After Beginning at a Local Barnes & Noble

This is the first time Hopkins West and Hopkins North junior high schools have participated together to raise money through the online book fair.

Hopkins West and Hopkins North junior high schools aren't the end of the business day put an end to their book fair. After raising money at the Ridgedale Barnes & Noble to raise money for the schools' media centers, the schools are continuing the book fair online through Thursday, at bn.com/bookfairs. The second-annual book fair featured entertainment by staff and students, free gift wrapping, a drawing for a $50.00 gift certificate and guest author Patrick Reusse signing copies of his two books.  "The online book fair is important to the school to capture sales from people who are not able to make it to the actual sale date," said Jeanne Stroud, administrative coordinator for West Junior High.
