Former Hopkins standout Marcus Williams, who’s now a North Dakota State University cornerback, has been named the College Sporting News FCS 2012 Defensive Player of the Year, College Sporting News announced last week. Williams helped his team to a 14-1 record in 2012 that culminated in NDSU’s second-consecutive Football Championship Subdivision title. The junior has played in all 29 games of his career, including 27 starts. He also has 11 career interceptions, with three returned for touchdows.
