Letter: Leigh Harrod is the 'Value-Added' Candidate for Three Rivers Park District 4

"She is indeed an intelligent, skilled, and unique candidate desiring to serve Three Rivers Park District with her multi-dimensional view."

To the Editor: As a former Park Commissioner for 18-years on the Three Rivers Park Board, I highly recommend Leigh Harrod as the better candidate choice for District 4. I encourage you to visit Leigh's web site for her specifics: WWW.HARROD4PARKS.COM Leigh Harrod offers more than a resume brimming full of professional credentials in natural resources. Her life-long focus, with several University degrees in Environmental Management, plus her 30-year career as a Professional Geologist, is a testament to her values. This focus is matched by the value that she recognizes Three Rivers Parks and Trails have added to the quality and enjoyment of her life. Leigh Harrod is therefore what I describe as “Value Added.” This is because she offers …

Letter: 'Jan Callison Is a Respected Leader'

"By voting to re-elect Jan Callison as a Hennepin County Commissioner, we will keep in office one member of the County Board who is responsive to her constituents, not to a single party."

To the editor: Why should we bother to vote on November 6?   We've heard too many stories about dishonest politicians, unethical candidates, the unwillingness of elected officials to work across party lines to address serious issues, and about our tax dollars being wasted.  For all of those reasons, we MUST vote this year; to make sure we keep the ethical, capable people in office who have proven worthy of our trust! By voting to re-elect Jan Callison as a Hennepin County Commissioner, we will keep in office one member of the County Board who is responsive to her constituents, not to a single party.  Jan has proven as a city council member, mayor and county commissioner that she will work hard to spend our tax dollars wisely; that she will…

Steve Simon (DFL) takes on Republican challenger David Arvidson in 46B. In the comments below, we welcome you to post your questions. If you'd like to just question one particular candidate, please note that. Otherwise, we'll assume all questions are intended for all the candidates. Please keep questions civil and respectful. David Arvidson was joined by GOP congressional candidate Chris Fields at a campaign fundraiser in Hopkins Thursday night.

David Arvidson, running as a Republican candidate for the state House in District 46B, last night held a campaign fundraiser at Hopkins’ Main Street Bar and Grill. Selcer Files Candidacy for Representative in House District 48A

This year marked the end of Yvonne Selcer's 8-year tenure on the Hopkins School Board.

Yvonne Selcer filed for candidacy Tuesday for representative in House District 48A. Selcer said she is dismayed by the gridlock at the legislature. “Throughout my career, I have demonstrated an ability to responsibly resolve issues with people holding conflicting viewpoints," she said. "This is a skill badly needed by our state government.” Selcer, a strong advocate for Southwest Light Rail, took the light rail from Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis to file for office Tuesday. "We had a great opportunity this session at the legislature to leverage state dollars with federal dollars for a 9-to-1 return on investment," Selcer said. "Unfortunately, my opponent was not a champion for this legislation and the project did not move forward…
