Repeat Offender Faces Felony Domestic Assault Charge

A Hopkins man who’s been convicted of previous assault charges has been charged with felony domestic assault following an argument that arose over a video game console last week. Police started investigating the incident when a woman went to the Police Department lobby Friday following the argument, Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg wrote in the charging documents. She told officers her husband, 31-year-old Danny Lee Pritchard Jr., packed her things and told her to leave their home with their children. She said he “then hit her on the head with an open hand,” according to the charging documents. The woman said Pritchard had also threatened her life and assaulted her multiple times in the past. Prosecutors Charge Repeat Abuser with Domestic Assault

A Fridley resident who has two prior domestic assault convictions is accused of throwing his girlfriend to the ground in downtown Hopkins.

Prosecutors arrested a 28-year-old Fridley man Sunday after witnesses in downtown Hopkins saw him grab his girlfriend and throw her to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the pavement. Officers arrived to find the woman crying as she sat against a building on the 1000 block of Mainstreet, according to charging documents prepared by Police Sgt. Mike Glassberg and filed Tuesday. She said she and Landon Gregory Braaten got into an argument while walking downtown and he pushed her to the ground. Medical personnel treated the woman for a head injury. Prosecutors charged Braaten with felony domestic assault, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. In April, Braaten was convicted on separate charges of …

Man Charged with Assaulting Woman in Hopkins

A Roseville man is accused of punching a woman in Hopkins and slamming her head into the center console of his car after they argued about gasoline money. Mauro Gonzalez Jr., 29, is charged with felony domestic assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A woman called police on April 15 and said she had been assaulted in Hopkins, according to the criminal complaint, compiled by Hopkins Police Detective Renee Meuwissen. The woman said she spent the night with Gonzalez, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her four children, at her home and that the next morning he gave her a ride to her cousin’s home in Minneapolis. On the way, the woman and Gonzalez began arguing about gasoline money, she said. …
