Xcel Energy is investigating a power outage in central Hopkins that started at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. The cause is not yet known, but the company has a crewmember on site determining the problem, according to a company spokeswoman. An estimated 461 Hopkins customers are affected, according to the company. Xcel’s website lists an estimated restoration time of 10:21 p.m. and 10:27 p.m., but the spokeswoman said an accurate time won’t be known until the problem is determined. The alert, which runs through midnight Wednesday, is due to expected increases in ozone pollution.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air pollution health advisory due to forecasted increases in ozone pollution for the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Rochester effective from noon until midnight on Wednesday, June 27. At-risk Populations: Ozone is expected to near a level that is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. Those sensitive to ozone include people with preexisting respiratory conditions, the elderly, children, and individuals who participate in outdoor activities requiring extended or heavy exertion.
