This park in Hopkins' is at the city's heart, both physically and metaphorically. Plaques are set about to rememberMore residents who made the town what it is. Other memorials honor veterans. Even the benches have been given in honor or in memory of someone. 

The park is also a place for fun. It's home to Music in the Park every summer, and the Hopkins Farmers Market takes place nearby from mid-June to October. With its location so close to downtown stores and restaurants, it's a good place for a picnic lunches beneath the shade trees.

Valley Park has extensive playground equipment for children to play on. It also has basketball courts, softballMore fields, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, even an archery range. The whole park is dominated by a hill that is perfect for sledding. Groups may rent the picnic shelters and alcoholic beverages are also allowed with a special permit, available through the website.

Park Valley Playground is actually a modest neighborhood park ensconced in a residential area. In addition to theMore expected playground equipment such as swings and slides, it also has a basketball court and picnic shelter. A nearby grassy field even offers ample space for a pick-up football game.

Hopkins High School draws students from all or part of seven of the metro area's western suburbs: Hopkins, Minnetonka,More Edina, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, St. Louis Park and Plymouth. It is the state's first National School of Excellence and helps students excel in a variety of arenas. Fifteen Advanced Placement-specific courses, plus fifteen more subject areas that correspond to AP course descriptions, offer students a shot college credit. It offers up to six levels of language instruction in American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German and Spanish. Students interested in technology can study advanced television production, obtain A+ Computer Technician Certification or use the school's state-of-the-art music production lab. Opportunities in the fine arts also abound, including several choir and musical groups, theater and art courses.
