L.H. Tanglen is an elementary school located next to Hopkins High School that was started in 1968 and named for longtime schools superintendent L. H. (Laverne Henry) Tanglen. In addition to the core subjects, it also offers vocal music, band, orchestra and physical education, plus special education, Title I, English-language learning and gifted and talented programs. The school also has a laptop program for sixth graders.
