A Miser and a Cinder Girl on Stage This Weekend

Three things to do in the Twin Cities include classic plays and a book arts festival.

This is the first weekend of “A Christmas Carol” at the Guthrie Theater, 818 South 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN. The play tells the story of miserly Scrooge, who doesn’t believe in the spirit of Christmas until he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. You can buy tickets on the theater’s website or at the box office. Performances continue through the end of December.

Children’s Theatre Company will present the classic story of cinder girl who becomes a princess starts Thursday, Nov. 14. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 and Friday, Nov. 15; and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sunday, Nov. 17. The theatre is located at 2400 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN. Ticket prices vary, so you should check the group’s website for availability and prices.

Book Arts Festival

The Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) will hold its annual festival on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Open Book Building, 1011 Washington Ave. S., Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN. The event is free and “features dozens of local and regional artists displaying and selling handmade books, journals, paper, prints and gifts, according to the MCBA website.
