Hopkins Staff Launch Budget Planning With an Increase

Also: Filing season is still open for Hopkins city and School Board elections.

Residents should brace themselves to pay a little bit more in taxes.

Hopkins officials will be kicking off the budget planning process Tuesday with a plan to grow the budget by more than 3 percent. That increase would cause property taxes to climb a bit more than 1 percent—all of it due to debt levies.

  • Filing continues for city and school board elections: The candidate filing period for Hopkins city and School Board elections runs through Tuesday. Hopkins currently has three people running for two spaces on the City Council, two people running for mayor and two people running for three spaces on the School Board.
