(PHOTOS) Cargill Donates Thousands of School Supplies

Cargill Grain and Oilseed Supply Chain North America also donated $1,500.

ResourceWest’s storage space is filling up with school supplies—thanks in part to truckload of supplies from Cargill that arrived Tuesday.

Employees and volunteers carried thousands of items into the downtown nonprofit, including:

  • 45 backpacks
  • 400 to 500 spiral notebooks
  • 150 packs of loose leaf paper
  • 100 to 120 boxes of crayons
  • 60 bottles of hand sanitizer
  • More than 1000 colored pencils
  • More than 1000 school pencils
  • 500 to 700 markers and highlighters
  • 400 to 500 pens—black, blue red
  • 50 containers of Lysol wipes

Volunteers: ResourceWest needs volunteers to sort through all the supplies coming in. The organization is looking people to perform the following tasks:

  • Sort supplies (through Sept. 2)
  • Assist with registration (Aug. 15-19) 
  • Assist with distribution (Aug. 29 - Sept. 2) 

Donations: Meanwhile, ResourceWest is still collecting the following school supplies:

  • TI84 graphing calculators (new/used)
  • Washable markers (10 pack)
  • Crayons (24 pack)
  • Scissors (elementary)
  • Colored pencils
  • Glue sticks
  • Notebooks (college ruled and wide)
  • Loose leaf (college ruled and wide)
  • Folders (multiple colors)
  • Yellow highlighters
  • Rulers
  • Big pink erasers
  • Pencil pouches
  • Red pens
  • Blue and black pens
  • 1," 1.5," 2" and 3" white plastic binders
  • Socks and underwear (girls and boys)
  • Monetary donations
