Help Your Neighbors at Community Days of Service

The event takes place May 19 and 20. Volunteer registration is open through May 13.

Residents only have a few more days to sign up to volunteer at this year’s Community Days of Service.

, which takes place May 19 and 20, is an annual event organized and led by local faith communities in Minnetonka, Hopkins and St. Louis Park to help area schools, city parks and charitable community organizations.

The event, now in its fourth year, attracted more than 600 people from 32 different cities last year. For 2012, organizers aim to engage more than 800 volunteers.

Projects include sorting food at STEP in St. Louis Park, organizing supplies at ResourceWest in Hopkins and cleaning at Sojourners Shelter in Minnetonka. In all, there are more than three dozen volunteer opportunities.

This year, the event will also have a booth at , where attendees can stop by to make placemats for nursing homes or write a letter to a service member.
