Help Fill Empty Bowls on Tuesday

The 13th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser aims to bring in $60,000 to combat hunger.

Imagine a bowl sitting empty on a counter.

Such a sight means little more than unwashed dirty dishes for most people. But for needy families, that empty bowl may mean an unfilled stomach.

That’s the idea behind the 13th-annual Empty Bowls fundraiser Tuesday. This community-wide event raises money for and ICA Food Shelf. Attendees make a free will donation; choose their favorite bowl from among 1,000 created by local artists, students and volunteers; enjoy a simple bowl of soup and bread and return home with the bowl.

The goal is to raise $60,000 to fight hunger.

It’s not just about bowls, though. There will be music and entertainment throughout the entire event, as well as a silent auction to bid on works from local artists.
