PHOTOS: What Was the Best Looking Car on the Road Saturday?

Hopkins cruisers brought a splash of color to Mainstreet during their reunion cruise this weekend.

For a few hours Saturday night, the roar of engines and smell of exhaust brought Hopkins back to its cars and bars days.

Young drivers once spent their evenings driving up and down the main thoroughfare to show off their prized automobiles. A few dozen former cruisers reunited Saturday for a reunion cruise to recapture the good ol’ day.

Many of the cruisers have traded up to the cars they could only dream about when they were teens. Wayne Garretson drove his cherry-red 1967 Dodge Charger Saturday night, but back in the day had a black Ford Crown Victoria.

Michael Tudor drove a 1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville and used the CB handle “Caddy Man.” But he took his Blazer to the reunion cruise and also has an Mazda RX-7. Yet even though the cars have changed, Tudor said the good memories remain.

“I missed my old Hopkins friends and I missed cruising,” said Tudor.
