4-Week Spanish Immersion Sessions 2 days/week 1:00 – 3:30pm $195/session Pre-K Class 3 – 5 years Tuesdays & Thursdays K-2 Class 5 – 8 years Mondays & Wednesdays Did you know? A young child’s brain has twice as many synapses (connections) as an adult’s brain, which makes it easier for them to acquire a second language. If they don’t use these synapses by age 10, they begin to lose them. When compared to monolingual students, these extra synapses lead to improved performance on tasks that call for divergent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving. According to the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) at the University of Minnesota, immersion programs are the most effective type of foreign language program. So what are you waiting for?! Join our Spanish Immersion classes this summer! Students can join with or without Spanish language experience. The immersion setting is a natural environment for learning the language, which means students who are at different levels (beginner through advanced) can be continuously challenged and share in the success. While your child is immersed in the Spanish language, they will participate in free exploration, small group activities and art projects, stories, snack, outside time and games. Not only will your child begin to learn the Spanish language, they will also start to develop knowledge and an appreciation of other cultures by singing songs, trying traditional foods and reading stories. Sessions will build on each other but Session I is not a pre-requisite for Session II.
