The fall sports season came to an end for one Hopkins team, while it looked to be peaking for another on Tuesday as the Royals girls soccer squad fell in the sectional final while the volleyball club claimed an upset victory in its regular-season finale.
Girls Soccer
After defeating second-seeded Minnetonka in the semifinals on Saturday, the Hopkins girls soccer team fell one game short of the state tournament in a 4-1 loss at No. 1 seed Wayzata on Tuesday.

Individual statistics for the game were not made available. The Royals concluded the 2011 season with a 6-7-6 record.
Jillaine DeYoung was the team's leading scorer this season, with six goals heading into Tuesday. Goalkeeper Jenny Grahek had seven shutouts this year, with a .877 save percentage prior to Tuesday's game.

Volleyball
The Hopkins volleyball team pulled off its biggest win of the year on Tuesday, closing out the regular season with a 3-1 defeat of No. 8-ranked Eden Prairie at home.
