No. 1-seeded lost a heartbreaking triple overtime match 86-87 against Osseo in Thursday’s state basketball tournament semifinal.
Hopkins guard Siyani Chambers—an all-metro first team nominee and Mr. Basketball finalist—scored a game-high 31 points. But the effort wasn’t enough to secure a win in a match that saw miraculous shots from all sides.
Osseo guard Bridge Tusler tied it up at the end of regulation with a layup that left the score 64-64. The teams didn’t add any points to the scoreboard during the first overtime.

Osseo appeared set to win it at the end of second overtime, but Hopkins guard Jacob Wright hit a dramatic three-pointer to tie the game as the clock expired. The Royals couldn’t hang on, though, and Osseo pulled away in the third overtime.
Hopkins will take on Eden Prairie at 4 p.m. Saturday at Concordia University for third place.

Osseo and Lakeville North will vie for the state AAAA title at 8 p.m. at the Target Center.
