Hopkins Synchronized Swimmers Prepare for State Meet

The competition takes place Thursday and Friday.

synchronized swim team is headed to the state meet Thursday and Friday.

Led by captains Sarah Bonoff, Laura Morine and Michelle Olson, the team has 16 swimmers who qualified for this year’s state meet, which takes place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The following swimmers will compete in the long routine:

  • Sarah Bonoff (senior)
  • Halley Harris (junior)
  • Kelly Marble (junior)
  • Laura Morne (junior)
  • Michelle Olson (senior)
  • Kailen Plley (junior)
  • Britta Skoglund (senior)
  • Kaitlyn Tupper (junior)

The following swimmers will compete in the short routine:

  • Maggie Cleary (seventh grade, )
  • Dede DeFreese (ninth grade, )
  • Sophie Dirnberger (seventh grade, North Junior High)
  • Lindsey Fagerstrom (sophomore)
  • Abby Gunderson (sophomore)
  • Kaitlyn Ho (ninth grade, North Junior High)
  • Elissa Marble (ninth grade, North Junior High)
  • Claire Marti (ninth grade, North Junior High)

The team will also compete in the following categories:

  • Long Trio: Sarah Bonoff, Laura Morine and Michelle Olson
  • Short Trio: Halley Harris, Elissa Marble and Claire Marti
  • Short Duet: Halley Harris and Britta Skoglund
  • Long Solos: Laura Morine; Sarah Bonoff

During Thursday’s competition, all the swimmers will compete in figures and the solo and duet competition will take place. On Friday, the trios and teams will swim.
