(GALLERY) Hopkins Girls Track And Field Team Wins Edina Invitational

Royals boys team takes fourth at eight team competition on Friday evening.

The Hopkins girls track and field team out-ran Eden Prairie to win the eight-team Edina Invitational on Friday evening, accumulating 167 points to 154.3 for the Eagles and 114.8 for the host Hornets.

The Royals won nine events in all, including all four (4x100-, 4x400-, 4x800- 800-meter) relay events.

Mary Tanoe won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.60 and 26.33 seconds, respectively, with Mariah Witt claiming first in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.69) and 300-meter hurdles (45.59) and Stephanie Rouse (60.28) winning the 400-meter dash.

Hopkins Boys Place Fourth

The Hopkins boys track and field team placed fourth at the Edina Invite, logging 96 points to come in behind Stillwater (193 points), Eden Prairie (156) and the host Hornets (112).

Two Royals individuals earned event victories, with Marcus Opalaeke winning the shot put with a hurl of 48 feet, four inches and Damilola Mafe placing first in the high jump with a leap of 6-2.
