Hopkins Football Loses On Late Field Goal
Edina's Patrick LeCorre nailed a 36-yard field goal with seconds left to end the Royals' season
The Hopkins football team lost to Edina by a 38-35 margin on Tuesday in the Section 6AAAAAA quarterfinal in Edina.
Hornets kicker Patrick LeCorre kicked a 36-yard field goal with seconds left on the clock to give Edina the win.
The Hornets advanced to face top-seeded Eden Prairie in the section semifinals on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Hopkins took a 12-0 lead thanks to a touchdown run by Richard Cliett and a touchdown pass from JT DenHartog to Andre McDonald from 80 yards out.
After the Hornets took a 14-12 lead, DenHartog connected with Alex Hunter for a 39-yard touchdown strike to make it 18-14.

Edina went on to score three straight touchdowns and took a 35-18 lead. But DenHartog began the comeback with a 32-yard pass to McDonald for a score, and Zach Brengman kicked a field goal to make it 35-28.
Cliett’s one-yard touchdown run in the fourth tied the game at 35-35, but Edina ended the game with LeCorre’s field goal to send the Hornets to the next round.
With the win, Edina improved to 5-4 on the season. Hopkins ends the year with a 3-6 record.
