(GALLERY) Hopkins' Erickson, Top Doubles Team Still Alive At Sections

Erickson didn't drop a set at Tuesday's Section 6AA tournament and advanced to the semifinals

Hopkins senior Ryan Erickson rolled into the Section 6AA boys tennis semifinals Tuesday, not losing a single set en route to a 2-0 day at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.

Erickson, the top-seed in the tournament, opened up with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong’s Nathaniel Kurtzweg. He then defeated Holy Angels’ Lucas Ciabattoni 6-0, 6-0 to set up a date with fourth-seeded Scott Vezzosi of Wayzata.

Day 2 of the section tournament begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the U of M. The section champions and true second individuals and doubles teams advance to the Class AA state tournament on June 9-10.
