The Royals' senior advanced to the state quarterfinals, where he lost to Century's Eric Frucht

Hopkins boys tennis senior Ryan Erickson finished Thursday’s Class AA state singles tournament with a win and a loss at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.

Erickson began the morning with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-1 win over Minnetonka freshman Joey Richards. 

But his state tournament ambitions came to an end in the quarterfinals. Erickson lost a 3-6, 3-6 loss to Rochester Century senior Eric Frueh, who advanced to the state semifinals against Mahtomedi’s Tucker Saxon.
