(PHOTOS) Hopkins Boys Basketballs Dominates Cretin in Tip Off Classic
The Royals improved to 4-0 behind a stifling second-half pressure defense.
Top-ranked lived up to its billing against No. 5 Cretin-Derham Hall in a battle of Class AAAA powers Saturday at the 10th Annual Breakdown Tip Off Classic in Minnetonka.
A second-half full-court press by the Royals helped Hopkins quickly pull away in the second half en route to a decisive 74-45 victory. The Royals led 35-26 at the half.
Hopkins had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double-figures. Andre McDonald paced the Royals with 16 points and Siyani Chambers added 14.Demitrius Martin and Stephon Sharpe each added 12 points on the offensive side.

The game was a rematch of last year's state tournament semifinal game. The Royals won that contest by a similar score of 75-56 en route to a third straight Class AAAA title.
Hopkins is now 4-0 on the season and will next face a tough Benilde-St. Margaret team, ranked No. 1 in Class AAA, on Friday, Dec. 16.
