First Annual Make a Splash Event

Mary Moon Foundation is conducting its first annual fundraising event.   Money raised from the event will be going to the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital to help fund Child Family Life Services.  The Mary Moon Foundation is organizing this event to provide an avenue for supporters to participate by registering online, sharing this information with social networks, and contributing or soliciting donations.  We will be grateful for all financial donations and items which will be ideal for the event auction.

At our fundraising event, participants will have unlimited access to the water park.  There will also be games, an online auction, a silent auction, as well as other items for sale.  All proceeds will go to the Minnesota Medical Foundation to support Child Family Life at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.

The Mary Moon Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Apple Valley, MN.  Our organization was founded in memory of Mary Jacqueline O’Keefe, nicknamed "Moon."  Mary loved participating in arts and crafts and a variety of games and other activities while she spent a large portion of her final year in the hospital fighting cancer. Our mission is to conduct fundraising events to help finance art supplies, toys and games for the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital to help hospitalized children enjoy life, learn, and grow as much as every child should.

Mary was just over 2 years old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer that occurs mostly in infants and toddlers.  Mary fought cancer bravely until losing her life one year later.  During that year Mary spent many weeks in the hospital, her longest stay was 9 weeks.   At that time she was confined to a small hospital room; the many toys, games, painting supplies, puppet shows, and other activities provided by Child Family Life services were a regular source of growth and pleasure for her.
