Former Hopkins High School basketball star Siyani Chambers is making a big splash on the collegiate level in his freshman year. The Harvard point guard was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the sixth time Monday, the Ivy League announced.
Chambers helped the Crimson to its third straight Ivy League title, scoring 16 points in games against Columbia and Cornell. He also snagged three rebounds and had two steals against Columbia and had four rebounds against Cornell.
On Monday, Chambers will find out where he and the rest of the Crimson team will start the postseason.
The Hopkins alumnus is no stranger to success. Chambers was named Mr. Basketball in 2012 and helped the Royals to state championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In his penultimate game with Hopkins, he set a state tournament record by making 22 of 24 free throws.
