Andre McDonald Headed to UW-River Falls

The former Hopkins High School football star made the move following a pair of suspensions at the University of Minnesota.

Former Royals football star Andre McDonald plans to play football and basketball at Division III University of Wisconsin-River Falls, the Minnesota Daily reported Monday.

The 2012 Hopkins High School grad left the University of Minnesota in the fall following marijuana use, two stints in rehab and a pair of suspensions, the final one lasting the entire 2013 season.

McDonald has been clean for three months, though, and hopes the change of schools will help him stay on track, the Star Tribune reported.

McDonald was the top-ranked prospect in Minnesota during his senior year. He was one of two wide receivers in the state named to the AP All-State First Team and played in the prestigious Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl—an event for many of the top high school gridiron standouts.
