A "spirited" holiday ...

What gift do you get the woman who has practically everything she needs? Well, if that woman is me, you get her a nice bottle of wine and a box of chocolate. Those two consumables are perfect presents because I don't have to clean up after it like a puppy, return it because its the wrong size or wonder what you were thinking when you bought me some crazy piece of art I don't understand. If she is not me and/or she doesn't drink/like chocolate, you opt for gift cards or cold hard cash (just suggestions of course).

If anyone needs help finding the perfect bottle of wine for me they can check out our very own locally owned Mac's Liquor on Excelsior in Hopkins. I found a great array of wine, beer, liquor and champagne (wonderful selection -- see photo) to help me and my friends and family celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Because I hate shopping on Black Friday (with many stores opening on Thanksgiving Day is there really a Black Friday this year? That's another post!), I opted to look in Mac's for some holiday presents. I found Minnesota wines (see photo) to give my California friends when they come to visit.  They always say Minnesota doesn't know squat about wine. Not one to be silent about the wonderful state that adopted this Southern Lady, I tell them to take a sip of Winehaven's Nokomis Red and hush their mouths (in as syrupy of a Southern drawl as I can muster)!

Now, those who know me, know I also indulge in a little dram of scotch every now and then. So, keep in mind that Mac's carries McCallan  and Glenmorangie. These two also make nice hostess gifts for those times you don't want to show up to a holiday dinner party empty handed. If scotch is a little too expensive, perhaps bring a bottle of organic wine (decent, not huge, selection) or some Minnesota-made Prairie vodka to your host/hostess.

I realize not everyone drinks alcohol so I would be remiss if I didn't tell you Mac's also carries non-alcoholic wine, beer and mixers (for yummy concoctions like virgin Pina coladas -- one of my favorites, daiquiris and margaritas).

So, whatever your adult beverage of choice, drink responsibly (don't you dare drink and drive) and have a very happy holiday!
