Other reviewers got it right when they said the parking situation is horrible. We were already towed after only living here 2 months! Be prepared to get towed at one point or another and have to eat the fee. We had requested a visitor parking pass and had hung it in the window, but because the management wrote the right MAKE but the wrong MODEL down, the towing company took the car right out of the lot with the visitor pass displayed right in the window. When we went downstairs and were shocked to see our car had been towed, guest parking pass and all, we called the emergency line and were told not to call them (after having to try to reach someone four times) unless it was an emergency and that they would not be able to help us. After getting pretty upset, the maintenance person called the asset manager who basically told us we were out of luck and that we would have to pay for it because they did not WANT to. The on-site residential manager could never be bothered to speak to us directly, and instead talked through the maintenance guy to the overall asset manager. $150 is a LOT of money for an individual resident, and not a lot of money for a giant property company like Soderberg who owns Second Street, but they did not help us and were not willing to rectify their parking error.

We had been willing to overlook the dirty condition the apartment was in when we moved in, the awkward guest parking situation, the incredibly inconvenient office hours (be prepared to take off work to get there in time to speak to someone), the poorly done paint job (they just paint over everything, and leave paint splatter on windows and light fixtures), and the nonexistent sound proofing. This parking situation was what really drove me to write this review. What is really shocking, is that after a second meeting in which we were told they would work with us, after hours wasted of our time (both of us had to take work off to meet with the landlord and asset Manager), the asset manager met with us to tell us even though they had fired the towing company and even though he agreed that the parking situation had been unacceptable and that we were right to be upset that we had been towed by their contracted towing company, that he is refusing to help us or reimburse us or offer a rent credit. This is, mind you, two days before Christmas. Nice guy.

My advice is to NOT sign a lease here. You won't enjoy your stay. There are plenty of other options that have responsible and competent management and better renovations. Stay away from Second Street Station (and for that manner other Sodeberg properties)!
