VIDEO: Alice Smith Celebrates Valentine’s With ’50s Sock Hop

The dance is part of a celebration of the school's 60th anniversary.

Alice Smith girls put on their poodle skirts and tied bows in their hair Thursday, while the boys slicked back their hair and donned white T-shirts and cuffed jeans. The retro styles were part of the school’s Valentine’s Day Sock Hop.

The dance was a part of the ongoing commemoration of Alice Smith’s 60-year anniversary. Since the school started in 1952, students celebrated by dancing in the styles of the era. A dance instructor taught them The Twist, Hand Jive, Conga and more.
