Editor’s Note: The following announcement comes from Hopkins Public Schools.
The Hopkins High School student newspaper, the "Royal Page," and the yearbook, the "Regalia," have received top honors from the Minnesota High School Press Association and the Journalism Educators of Minnesota. Jeff Kocur, the 2012 Journalism Educator of the Year, is the advisor of both publications.
The "Royal Page" earned an All-State Gold rating, and Third Place Best of Show at the Minnesota High School Press Association's fall convention. At the national level, the "Royal Page" earned First Class with marks of distinction from the National Scholastic Press Association in the categories of Content and Coverage, Writing and Editing, and Leadership.
The "Regalia" yearbook won First Place Best in Show at the Minnesota High School Press Association's fall convention and earned an All-State Gold ranking from the Journalism Educators of Minnesota.
This year's theme is "Within Hopkins" and the students are covering the book with a spread for each week of the school year. The book will be jam packed with events and people from the entire school year, as well as stunning sports team pages. Editors of the "Regalia" are Hattie Holm and Sophie Stillman.
