Safety Camp Provides Youth with Fun Ways to Be Safe

Students will learn how to be safe in a variety of situations and environments.

Hopkins Public Schools and Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreational Services are partnering to provide youth with a one-day Safety Camp on July 26. The event is specifically for students entering third grade this fall. It will be held at the Eisenhower Community Center (1001 Hwy 7, Hopkins) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Safety Camp is a fun way for students to learn how to be safe in all types of situations and environments. There will be a variety of safety stations that touch on the topics of fire, police, medical, bike, and water. Emergency vehicles and equipment will be on display for viewing and tours. An awards ceremony will be held from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Lisa Walker, youth enrichment coordinator for Hopkins Public Schools, estimates that 120 to 140 campers will attend. All campers will receive lunch and a t-shirt. Students who attend Kids & Company do not need to register, as this event will be part of their summer activities.
