National High School Journalism Competition Honors HHS Teacher

The Dow Jones News Fund named Jeff Kocur a Special Recognition Advisor in the 2012 National High School Journalism Teacher Awards competition.

The Dow Jones News Fund has named Jeff Kocur a Special Recognition Advisor in the 2012 National High School Journalism Teacher Awards competition. Kocur teaches language arts at Hopkins High School and is also the advisor to the high school’s award-winning yearbook.

Kocur was one of three teachers nationwide who received the Special Recognition award. The program identifies outstanding high school journalism teachers with at least three years of experience who have done exemplary work in the previous academic year.

“I was thrilled to hear the news of this award,” said principal of Hopkins High School, Patty Johnson. “Jeff is a deserving, hardworking teacher who I feel privileged to work with.”

As one of the honorees, Kocur will be recognized at the Advisor Luncheon on Nov. 17, at the National High School Journalism Convention in San Antonio.
