Hopkins Seniors Win Triple ‘A’ Award

Maddie Hinck and Reed Fischer, Hopkins High School seniors, have been named the 2013 recipients of the Triple "A" Award for their achievements in the arts, academics and athletics. They will now advance to the sectional level and, if chosen there, to the state level where the winners receive a $4,000 scholarship.

Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple "A" Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a "B" or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

Both Hinck and Fischer are active members in numerous extra curricular activities. Hinck is the captain of the cross-country team, the Nordic ski team, and track. She is also co-president of the National Honor Society and co-editor for the school published magazine, “Reflects.” Reed is a member of the cross-country team, track team, sings in the Hopkins High School choir, and is also a Boy Scout.

Triple "A" Award recipients are selected by a multi-level process involving the League's member schools and administrative regions. League officials will announce the four award recipients (a girl and a boy from both a Class "A" and Class "AA" school) at an on-court recognition ceremony held at the Boys' State Basketball Tournament in March.
