Hopkins Schools to Close for Cold Temps Again

Hopkins students will not have class Monday because of dangerously cold temperatures, the district announced Sunday.

Schools will be closed, and there will be no Ready 4 K or Early Childhood Special Education classes. However, Early Childhood Family Education, Kaleidoscope and Stepping Stones will be open. Kids & Co. will be available all day for those who are normally scheduled in KinderConnection, before-school and/or after-school programs. Students should bring a bagged lunch.

"Closing school is always a last resort, and this decision is made in the interest of student safety. Please know that we are working on a variety of scenarios to add make up days to the calendar. We understand that this winter has been very frustrating for families, and we thank you for your patience and understanding," a statement read.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a Monday high near -11 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills as low as -43.

Tuesday's forecast calls for a high of -3 and a wind chill of -40. The district release the following statement on the possibility of cancelling school then:
