HHS Chooses Columbia Heights Dean as New Assistant Principal

Trent Lawson takes over from Anne Campbell, who accepted a job as Grand Rapids Public Schools athletic director.

has selected the dean of students for Columbia Heights High School as new assistant principal, according to a school district news release.

Trent Lawson, who assumed his duties July 1, replaces Anne Campbell, who accepted a job as Grand Rapids Public Schools athletic director.

Lawson received a bachelor’s in social work from St. Olaf College, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Minnesota and a K-12 administrative license from the University of Minnesota.

He began his career as a social worker at two schools at Saint Paul Public Schools. As the dean of students at Columbia Heights High School, a position he held for three years, he “led the registration process and tutoring programs, served on parent leadership groups and was a member of the school leadership team.”

“Excellent school leadership is reflected in relationships that engage all stakeholders,” the release quoted Lawson. “An administrator has to have the ability to bring all stakeholders together for the benefit of the school and the school community.”
