Parent Community Fair

Summer is just around the corner. If you are looking for fun and inexpensive activities to do with your children over summer break, look no further than the SEAC (Special Education Advisory Committee) Parent Community Fair. The purpose of the event is to give parents ideas for how to have the best summer ever with children of all ages.
The Parent Community Fair takes place on Tuesday, May 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Wetlands Café at the Eisenhower Community Center (1001 Hwy 7, Hopkins). The details are still in the works, but the event is sure to include a storytelling station, a farmer’s market station, and even a station that will share a top-secret recipe for “goop.” Representatives from Shady Oak Beach and the Hopkins Area Little League (HALL) are also planning to attend.

This fun-filled event is hosted by SEAC and is doubling as a recruitment effort for new members to join the committee next year. There will be a table for parents who are interested to gather more information. According to special services director for Hopkins Public Schools, Linda Gardner, parents are sometimes surprised to learn that they do not have to be a parent of a child who receives special education services to serve on the advisory committee. It is open to all parents of who have children who attend school in the Hopkins District.

In addition to activities, fun and entertainment, the event will include pie – lots of pie – and cookies (for those who don’t like pie). If you have questions about this event, please contact Linda Gardner at Linda.gardner@hopkinsschools.org or 952-988-4041.
