BestPrep Names North Junior High Educator ‘Teacher of Excellence’

teacher Marcia Danahy received the Teacher of Excellence Award from Best Prep, a non-profit dedicated to fostering economic education in Minnesota schools. Danahy was one of ten educators in Minnesota to receive the award. She is a gifted education specialist and English teacher.

Danahy was recognized due to her work with the Stock Market Game, which is sponsored by Best Prep. The Stock Market Game is an academic competition for students who want to learn how to figure out commissions and profits, and the global thinking involved in understanding and predicting market trends. Danahy’s students have taken well to the competition because, as she puts it, “what teenager does not like money?”.

“It has been a total joy over the years to introduce this rich subject to students, watch their minds go to work, and share their exuberance and pain as they play the game,” said Danahy.

Danahy was presented the award at the Best Prep annual luncheon on May 23. About 200 business people from across the state attended the conference.
